Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal: A Tale of Choices and Divine Alignment in Business

Running a business is not just about strategies, numbers, and market analysis. For those of us who anchor our endeavours in faith, it becomes a dual challenge of balancing worldly knowledge with unwavering spiritual alignment. While building my business, this has not just been a guiding principle but a lived experience, one that reminds me constantly of God’s clarity amidst the noise of external advice.

Reflecting on Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal from Deuteronomy 11:29, I can’t help but draw parallels to my personal and professional life. These biblical mountains represent the choices we constantly face, the alignment we must uphold, and the blessings or challenges that flow from these moments of decision. Much like the post “If It Was Done to Jesus, Who Am I?”, this exploration dives into real, personal wrestling’s, but with the added lens of building a business grounded in obedience to divine guidance.

The Mountains of Blessing and Challenge

Deuteronomy 11:29 paints a vivid picture of Mount Gerizim (blessing) and Mount Ebal (curse). These two mountains stood side-by-side as symbols of the covenant God set before the Israelites. Mount Gerizim represented the rewards of walking in alignment with His will, while Mount Ebal symbolized the difficulties that arise from disobedience.

When I think of their symbolism in today’s terms, I see these mountains not just as physical places or abstract forces, but as moments of decision within my business and life. Every client meeting, every expansion proposal, every new hire has presented me with a choice: will I stand on my personal Mount Gerizim, choosing divine alignment, or will I allow the pressures of external voices to draw me toward my own Mount Ebal?

For BBOpEx Solutions, which I lovingly call not merely a company but a calling, these lessons aren’t theoretical. They play out in real-time, in the challenges overcome and the blessings received from trusting God's plan even when it went against conventional advice.

Choices That Define Everything

Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal are about more than blessings or curses. They remind us of the great truth that our choices shape our outcomes. But these choices often come steeped in fear, self-doubt, and external pressures.

There have been moments in building BBOpEx where I was tempted to follow the straightforward path the world seemed to advise. More aggressive marketing, shortcuts on service delivery, or breaking from the company values to win a tough client were all "Mount Ebal moments" that could have temporarily eased the climb.

Instead, I’ve found that choosing Mount Gerizim is about trusting God even when His guidance doesn’t always align with worldly wisdom. Here’s a story that comes to mind:

When building our operational model, I received advice from several experts claiming I needed to strip faith-based values from any outward messaging to appeal to a broader audience. But I felt, deep within my spirit, God directing me to keep Him at the center of what I was offering through this business. The result may not have been immediate, but over time, this decision aligned the company with the kind of clients and partners that celebrated and resonated with our values.

This wasn’t just about "business strategy;" it was about faithfulness. God has proven that standing on Mount Gerizim—choosing alignment with His principles—isn’t merely a moral act, but the key to long-term blessings.

Practical Lessons from the Mountains

How do Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal show up in your life? Whether you’re running a business, leading a team, or managing personal challenges, the truths symbolized in these mountains are relevant.

1. Recognizing Your Mount Gerizim Moments

  • For me, Mount Gerizim moments are those points where obedience doesn’t always look logical, but it feels undeniably right. It could be as big as refusing to compromise on integrity in a make-or-break deal or as subtle as choosing prayer over panic when faced with slow business months.
  • Your Mount Gerizim moment is where faith is activated most powerfully. When you choose this path, you’re planting seeds for blessings that may not be visible yet but are divinely guaranteed.

2. Understanding That Challenges Test Trust

  • Mount Ebal reminds us of the consequences of stepping out of alignment. Reflecting on this, I see my moments of doubt or fear-based decisions as lessons. They weren't punishments, but opportunities to realign and renew my faith.
  • Facing obstacles, whether a deal falling through or financial pressure, is inevitable. But the real challenge lies in not allowing these moments to sidetrack the bigger purpose God has for your personal and professional life.

3. Aligning Your Business Choices with Faith

  • Running BBOpEx Solutions has taught me that a business aligned with divine values is blessed beyond measure. Each decision, even when appearing difficult or slow, is an opportunity to affirm trust in God’s process.
  • For other entrepreneurs reading this, your "produce" might look different. Maybe it’s a growing team, thriving client partnerships, or even a quieter blessing like resilience during difficult times. Whatever it is, the foundation comes from choosing principles over profits and alignment over ambition.

Finding Grace in the Journey

Much like I shared in “If It Was Done to Jesus, Who Am I?”, standing firm in faith doesn’t mean the absence of trials. Jesus lived in alignment with God’s will and still faced opposition. Similarly, walking the Mount Gerizim path at BBOpEx hasn’t been without its testing moments. But here’s the beautiful truth: even when challenges arose, blessings eventually flowed.

The covenant at Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal teaches us something profound about grace. For the Israelites, even if they stumbled, God continued to guide them back to His path. He offers the same grace to us today. When I’ve fallen into the temptation to "over-tinker" or listen too intently to external advice, God has always gently brought me back to clarity through prayer and purpose.

Final Reflection

When God gave the Israelites their choices at Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal, He made it clear that they weren’t random. Their blessings and struggles would be direct outcomes of their alignment with His will. This truth resonates deeply for me as I continue to build BBOpEx Solutions.

Every day is an opportunity to choose obedience—to stand on Mount Gerizim and trust that God’s way is abundant, no matter how unconventional it might seem. And as He has shown, choosing His guidance has led not only to professional wins but, more importantly, to peace, fulfillment, and the joy of knowing I’m walking in purpose.

To anyone navigating their own mountains right now, ask yourself this: Am I letting fear guide me, or am I aligning with the divine plan? The choice is presented to us daily. One path leads to the fullness of blessings. The other asks us to recalibrate and try again.

At BBOpEx Solutions and in life, I choose Mount Gerizim. I choose alignment. And so can you.

Purpose in the Fight: Lessons from Spiritual Warfare

Sometimes in life, we come to a point where we feel an undeniable pull to pursue what’s deeply embedded in our hearts. It’s the dreams we’ve carried for so long, the purpose we were created for, the longing that whispers, “Now is the time.” But stepping into that purpose isn’t always easy. It often means facing challenges that test our faith, resilience, and spiritual strength. I recently found myself in such a battle, one that opened my eyes to the reality of spiritual warfare and how it intersects with the choices we make to follow our calling. What transpired wasn’t just a series of events but a profound experience that taught me about rising above unseen battles with faith, prayer, and discernment.   A Dream That Spoke of Challenges One night, I dreamt of a curled-up snake. It was still, lying in my path, almost as though waiting to strike. Instead of being overcome with fear, I leapt over it and moved on. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but as I reflected, the imagery beg...

I AM GRATITUDE

GOD~GRACE~GLENDA~GRATITUDE~GREATNESS   The belief that "everything is part of God’s plan and works together for my good" has been a guiding force throughout my life. There have been times when the bigger picture seemed unclear, and challenges felt overwhelming. Yet, I’ve learned to trust those moments, knowing that God’s plan unfolds in ways we cannot always see. As Ecclesiastes reminds us, "He has made everything beautiful in its time." This powerful truth has taught me patience and helped me recognize that even life’s difficulties have purpose.   Last year, in particular, was a season of immense challenge. I faced trials that stretched me in ways I didn’t expect, but I now see how those moments were part of God refining and shaping me. Where there was uncertainty, He provided direction. Where there was hardship, His grace carried me through.   Living with Purpose Each of us is entrusted with a unique calling, a "God-given task" meant to bring light and m...

Embracing Transformation: Overcoming Procrastination and Self-Sabotage en route to Return2SELF

There comes a time when we find ourselves standing at the crossroads of transformation and self-discovery. It is easy to become our own harshest critics, placing limits on the love we deserve due to perceived flaws that only we can see. However, this internal battle often leads us down a path of procrastination and self-sabotage, even when everything seems to be going well. Through meditation and reflection, I've found inspiration in “my manual,” which calls for liberation from presumptuous sins—those negative thoughts that bind us. Imagine working tirelessly towards your dreams only to stall at the finish line because you suddenly doubt your capabilities! This is what happens when we fail to recognize the power of our words—what you say about yourself matters because you're listening too. As I sat in meditation this morning, reflecting on Psalm 19:13, it became clear that much of my self-judgment stems from what can be described as presumptuous sins—those subtle yet pervasive ...
