When Is It Enough? A Journey to Self-Love and Boundaries

"You have nailed yourself to a cross, and placed a crown of thorns upon your own head." Quote from A Course in Miracles paint a vivid and challenging picture of emotional and mental self-sacrifice. They speak directly to how often I unwittingly betray myself with choices that deplete my self-worth, causing me to prioritize others at the expense of my own wellbeing.

Recently, a friend offered me a different perspective, she posed a simple yet piercing question… "When is it enough?" This gave me pause and urged me to examine my patterns of over-sacrifice, ultimately shifting my relationship with myself.

What Does Self-Sacrifice Really Mean?

Self-sacrifice often presents itself as a virtue. It’s the instinct to prioritize another’s needs over your own—to give, to serve, to support. While this behavior is commendable in moderation, it becomes problematic when repeated to a degree that harms your emotional, mental, or physical health….Yup this is me then I mask it with I am here to serve and I am a helper.

Many of us don’t even realize that we are caught in this pattern. Here are a few signs to reflect on:

·      You struggle to celebrate your achievements or set aside time for joy.

·      You feel guilty when focusing on your own needs.

·      You're constantly exhausted but still push through.

·      You often say “yes” to others but “no” to yourself.

If any of these resonate, it might be time to ask yourself that pivotal question, “When is it enough?”

When self-sacrifice becomes a habit like with me, the cost runs deeper than fatigue. It can lead to resentment toward others, dimmed confidence, deteriorating mental health, and a strained relationship with yourself.

I have to constantly remind myself that self-love is not selfish, it is not an act of selfishness; it’s a foundation for sustainability. When you nurture and honour your true SELF, you build the strength needed to support others without compromising your well-being. Self-love is about showing respect, kindness, and care for your unique and valuable existence.

When you prioritize returning to SELF, the positive changes extend beyond you.

The Ripple Effect of Loving Your SELF :

  • Healthier Connections: Build relationships where mutual respect and understanding can flourish.
  • Stronger Emotional Resilience: Develop the tools to manage stress and challenges with grace.
  • Sharper Focus and Productivity: Approach work and personal goals with renewed clarity and energy.
  • Aligned Decision-Making: Make choices rooted in your personal values and beliefs, leading to meaningful outcomes.

Returning to SELF for me is the key to creating a life rooted in balance and fulfillment.

Prioritize YOU, and watch the transformation unfold!!!

Purpose in the Fight: Lessons from Spiritual Warfare

Sometimes in life, we come to a point where we feel an undeniable pull to pursue what’s deeply embedded in our hearts. It’s the dreams we’ve carried for so long, the purpose we were created for, the longing that whispers, “Now is the time.” But stepping into that purpose isn’t always easy. It often means facing challenges that test our faith, resilience, and spiritual strength. I recently found myself in such a battle, one that opened my eyes to the reality of spiritual warfare and how it intersects with the choices we make to follow our calling. What transpired wasn’t just a series of events but a profound experience that taught me about rising above unseen battles with faith, prayer, and discernment.   A Dream That Spoke of Challenges One night, I dreamt of a curled-up snake. It was still, lying in my path, almost as though waiting to strike. Instead of being overcome with fear, I leapt over it and moved on. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but as I reflected, the imagery beg...

I AM GRATITUDE

GOD~GRACE~GLENDA~GRATITUDE~GREATNESS   The belief that "everything is part of God’s plan and works together for my good" has been a guiding force throughout my life. There have been times when the bigger picture seemed unclear, and challenges felt overwhelming. Yet, I’ve learned to trust those moments, knowing that God’s plan unfolds in ways we cannot always see. As Ecclesiastes reminds us, "He has made everything beautiful in its time." This powerful truth has taught me patience and helped me recognize that even life’s difficulties have purpose.   Last year, in particular, was a season of immense challenge. I faced trials that stretched me in ways I didn’t expect, but I now see how those moments were part of God refining and shaping me. Where there was uncertainty, He provided direction. Where there was hardship, His grace carried me through.   Living with Purpose Each of us is entrusted with a unique calling, a "God-given task" meant to bring light and m...

Embracing Transformation: Overcoming Procrastination and Self-Sabotage en route to Return2SELF

There comes a time when we find ourselves standing at the crossroads of transformation and self-discovery. It is easy to become our own harshest critics, placing limits on the love we deserve due to perceived flaws that only we can see. However, this internal battle often leads us down a path of procrastination and self-sabotage, even when everything seems to be going well. Through meditation and reflection, I've found inspiration in “my manual,” which calls for liberation from presumptuous sins—those negative thoughts that bind us. Imagine working tirelessly towards your dreams only to stall at the finish line because you suddenly doubt your capabilities! This is what happens when we fail to recognize the power of our words—what you say about yourself matters because you're listening too. As I sat in meditation this morning, reflecting on Psalm 19:13, it became clear that much of my self-judgment stems from what can be described as presumptuous sins—those subtle yet pervasive ...
